'Montage' – split and recombine for new design
The title of the 2012/2013 Heimtextil Trend Book is explained by the introductory sentence: "The long-awaited process of creative destruction has begun – with the aim of building-up something better for today and tomorrow."
"Consumers love to take things apart and reassemble them. They put together a menu using different elements and numerous individual aspects", adds designer Claudia Herke of bora.herke.palmisano. Continuing, she says, "It was striking how this theme forced itself on us during the work for the Trendtable."
This bold, light-footed form of mix and collage manifests itself in four fundamental trends:

- COLOUR RIOT: ultramodern combinations of vibrant synthetic shades ranging from a flamboyant sky blue to a pulsating fuchsia. Textures and designs: high-gloss, coated, fluid, transparent, recycled solid shades, high-quality felts, smooth wools and technical knitted fabrics; colour blocking, broad stripes, all-over geometrics, 3-D effects, lacquer printing; montage of unexpected, dynamic, flawed looks. Fashion inspiration: Libertine fashion label, USA.
- DARK LUX: The dominant themes are mystical and sombre creations in mysterious hues from moonlight pale to night forest and golden lustre. Textures and designs: cloud-like forms, crystalline edges; rubberised, leathery, high-gloss looks as a contrast to furry, long-haired qualities; graphical top stitching, applications, relief, structures; metallic shimmers, deep gloss, alienated vintage and brocade fabrics. Fashion inspiration: Erdem, England.
- CRAFT INDUSTRY: Inspired by the Anglo-American Indian Summer, this trend is a combination of handicraft, folklore and nature in colours ranging from Red Spark to Autumn Yellow. Textures and designs: understated used looks, waxed, sanded woollen surfaces; subtle shrinkage effects, crease-proof finishes, crash and quilted fabrics; staggered, combined, interrupted checks and stripes in hand-stitched look or inlays; wool, cord, hand-weave structures, hairy surfaces, flamed qualities. Fashion inspiration: Rodarte, USA.
- SPLIT CLARITY: Simple, clear-cut, functional aesthetics in combination with light, icy shades and just a few strong accents such as, for example, Acid Yellow. Textures and designs: Intelligent, insulating, reflecting, UV-protective qualities in a metallic look; ultra-light, delicate, icy, 3-D effect, laser-cut creations; linear, fine-filament patterns, calm wooden shades.
